just a dream ..?

had a dream last night
it was inspired by:
1.watching a movie just before bed
about a saxon invasion of britain
around the 4th century a.d.
2.seeing news footageof the line of control in cashmere
between india & pakistan
that has been closed for some 35 years
forming the front line of 3 wars fought over it..
yesterday it was open for a photo-op
as press members from both countries
were able to stand across from one another
and interview one another
while a truckload of earthquake relief supplies
was passed across the line to the pakistani side
meanwhile the local cashmeris gathered
wanting to be allowed to go across to see their relatives
the armies chased them off with tear gas...
so in the dream
i was visiting in a region of the world
that due to its geography
had been the site of innumerable wars
in the past thousands of years
there was some big attack coming
from these people who had all this technology
like ultra sleek jet fighters
seeking to exterminate all the people
and as the armies moved in
surrounding the area
it was like they were herding sheep
as everyone strove to get out of harms way...
the important part of the dream was
to realize what it felt like
to be under attack from an overwhelming
technologically superior force bent on our destruction
for reasons that we had no control over...
kinda like
how the rest of the world
must see bush & company
cowboying around the world
with the u.s. military like their six shooter
used to intimidate whole peoples
all for the sake of some abstract geopolitical agenda
that has nothing to do
with the local folks
just trying to raise their kids
the best way they know how...
i love america
i love this country
our promise
especially...
i want for the u.s. to stop being a bully
to those we would seek to inspire...
as a good friend says
you cant oppress people
& call yourself a democracy
the world is too small
to just save it for us, ours, the haves
& screw them less fortunates
'cause they are we
& there's just us out here
what we do to them
we do to ourselves
if we oppress or limit "them"
we do so to ourselves...even worse
cause we then dwell in the illusion of righteousness
as well as just plain hurting
if we empower "them"
to succeed in being the best human being they can be
the whole species wins..
hard to do that when we're blowing up their children
with our hightech weaponry
if our bombs are so smart
why kill innocence
imagine smart bombs that don't kill women & children
acceptable losses to whom
still
the universe must know what it's doing
with this mess
a government that cant see the forest for the trees
a people who really want a government to do the right thing
yet are truely frustrated by how difficult it seems
to create healthy change for all of humanity
while the world runs ever so blindly into its future
yet the future is a place where there is greater awareness
of the oneness of all humanity...
i keep coming back to:
imagine a world where
every child born is truely welcomed
to the point where the world governmental
& economica policies are based on this
universal welcomeness...respect for all life...
its still so weird to me how
the folks who scream right to life
support the death penalty
as if we gotta be in a hurry
to send a soul who has errored
out of this world
feel sorry for the one
who thinks they have to raise their family by
getting up every morning to guard
the soul who has killed..
no soul is more important than any other...?
the house i grew up in 25 years after we lost it due to foreclosure
