what a novel approach to enlightenment...

the sudden death of a friend due to natural causes
[blood clot to the brain. .he was a prince of compassion..
a little younger than i.. he was fine at dinner & dead by morning]
is gifting me with the awareness of how tenuous, how precious,
how fragile our simply being alive is
[..its like i'm walking around with this constant awareness now of how this entire physical universe
is but a speck of something so much greater that we can only begin to understand..]
it can seem that we live & die at the whim of the universe
& nothing we can say or do can change the day or hour of our passing
yet i can't help feel that there is something greater at work & play here
the spiritual priority of being
in the eternal palm of the divine...
it seems the majority of the world goes about its business
as if we didn't know that you can not hide from the divine
people killing, lying , & stealing is nothing more than folks pretending
that the divine doesn't see them or care
when nothing could be further from the truth
but the illusion that infinite love is oblivious to something happening
in the lives of the people,
that the universe is somehow oblivious to or impotent,
or careless about the suffering of a soul
extends to the conduct of nations & peoples
yet what if the truth is it is infinite love that is allowing
us, the infinite children of the light,
our illusions of seperateness
from divinity
so that we might work out our own salvation
our own path to realizing we are always & forever enlightenment
connected & loved & cared for infinitely
by the source within the source within the source
within
everyone & everything always
as we live & take breath
& realizing these things is what our precious tempestuous
earthly walk is all about

i have met those aspect of this self
the scriptures, traditions, mystics, & sage have variously referred to as
"the thief", " the liar", " the monkey swinging thru the forest of the mind"
that modern psychology calls " the ego"
& the founder of christian science, mary baker eddy called "mortal mind"
as opposed to "divine mind"
"the mind of god"
"the higher self "
"the truest self"
or "the Self"...
the ancestors appear to have made coded references to
"the thief"
because it [ the ego ] is that aspect of the self/ conscious mind
that steals the peace of mind of any & every moment possible
by thinking of something other than the truth & joy of the moment
thru distractions like worry & fear...
"the liar"
because it [ the ego] uses illusion to convince the self
that ultimate reality isn't
in order to create & maintain the illusion of a person,
a soul being separate from divinity: ones true nature
it does this thru distractions like doubt...
" the monkey swinging thru the forest of the mind"

the monkey is the conscious mind unable/ unwilling to maintain a stillness
quiet
within which it becomes possible for anyone to ultimately realize the true nature of things
instead the monkey [the ego] leaps about the walls of the mind without pause
from thoughtform to thoughtform to thoughtform
rather than peace...
i have witnessed my self being
the false prophet
& the half-made sage
pretending to know more than i do which is ultimately not much if anything
for who is the one who knows
the universe it seems knows everything & as children of the divine we must be everything as well
so why would we need to "know" really
which all sounds pretty sage like 'til you're stuck on the side of the road trying to fix your car
or your girlfriend dumps you without a word...
so i've seen myself
watched myself, witnessed myself
& it occurred to me that
everyone might be experiencing this same thing yet thinking we're each unique
watched this ego at work & play
& realize even this awareness is a ploy by the ego to avoid death/oblivion
by embracing the spiritual path
bargaining with the infinite for some way to survive the inevitable end: finitude
becoming what david hawkins refers to as
"the spiritualized ego"
the immutable self remains un phased, un convinced, & out of reach of falsehood & illusion
yet ever present, ever loving , ever supporting
yet elusive

there are 2 kindz of people in this world:
those whose focus in this life is
purification of the the ego

those whose focus in this incarnation is

each is infinitely loved equally by the non judgmental universe
neither is better than the other in the eyes of the most high
what i find interesting is that the universe puts both on the same planet so unbeknownst to one another
to help one another achieve their goal

and contemplate
long journeys into the desert in the middle of summer...
so she now back in her real world
reads this part about making love with non attachment
and asks why the hero leaves her
out of the story...

awakening this morning this story came to me:
once upon a time this great knight heard about this great sage living deep within this great deep cave and went to seek him out whereupon when standing before him asking great questionz expecting great answers he was met with a great silence. . radiating back at him remaining the perfect mirror the sage waz compassion .... the story iz told how the two remained there for a time then exited the cave together each goin their own way.. but another version has it that the knight upon seeing into the silence, listening into the radiance alone had all his questionz find answers before hiz very mind.. and knew then that he was the sage and the cave and the story teller and thus the blue muse of inspiration for it was in witnessing compassion radiating thru holy silence within the cave of his own imagination or contemplating the color blue in the clear sky that the hero realized who he really is, where he really comes from, and why o why he chose to come......
